Louis de Breteuil, one of the ministers of Louis XIV, was a contemporary of Charles Perrault. They both served the Sun King, one as General Financial Controller and the other as Director of the Treasury Department. But it is above all as the author of fairy tales that Charles Perrault is still remembered.

Puss in Boots, Tom Thumb, Little Red Riding Hood and the other famous characters of Perrault's tales have taken up residence in the chateau de Breteuil. They enliven the stables, the fruit storeroom, the washhouse and all the other places which still illustrate the daily life of times gone by.

Even the chateau has become populated by charming little Puss in Boots figures, veritable works of art by Janie and Armand Langlois. Musicians, perfumiers or watchmakers, they have found a place amongst the most sophisticated XVIIIth Century decors.

At 16.30 on Sundays, public holidays and every day during the school holidays in the Paris region, a story teller takes centre stage to tell children three stories.
