A family visit to Breteuil

The visit of the dwelling is open to all generations.

The château de Breteuil

The tour of the castle is playful with all the wax figures made by the Musée Grévin. Throughout the visit, ‘Puss in boots’ automatons amaze and delight our youngest visitors. History lovers will meet a family whose illustrious ancestors were at the heart of European history. Art lovers of rare portraits and priceless artefacts will appreciate the rich collections of the castle.

Perrault’s fairy tales

In the outbuildings, visitors will find references to Perrault’s fairy tales, originally written for adults, with wax figures of the characters. Eight tales are staged in sound and light settings, accessible everyday, all year round.

The Storyteller

Charles Perrault’s original Fairy Tales are told by a storyteller at 4.30 pm all year long on Sundays, Public holidays, school holidays for the Paris region and on Saturdays from April 3 to October 30, 2021.

La conteuse du château de Breteuil

The gardens and park of Breteuil

The Gardens of Breteuil are all different: the French Style Garden provides a beautiful setting to the ornamental ponds, yew mosaics and topiary bushes; the Princes’ Garden offers a different exhibition each season, with an abundant and colourful flowering; nature lovers will be delighted by the beauty of the ‘Remarkable Trees Path’ while children freely play getting lost in the Maze or enjoying the Play Area with swings, climbing ladders and slides…

TO EAT

You can have a picnic in the open or in a picnic shelter. A kiosk, which sells snacks (pancakes, ice creams, croque monsieur…) opens at noon on Sundays, on Public Holidays from March 28 to October 31, 2021, during the summer and autumn mid-term holidays and during the Easter Holidays for the Paris region.
In winter, a Tea-Room welcomes you in the right wing of the castle on Sundays and Public Holidays from January 31 to March 21, 2021, from November 7 to December 26, 2021, during the February Holidays for the Paris region and the Christmas Holidays (except for December 24,25,31, 2021 and January 1, 2022).
