Fairy Tales
During your visit to the Château de Breteuil, let yourself be enchanted by the magic of Charles Perrault’s fairy tales! Charles Perrault and Louis de Breteuil were close friends. As a tribute to their wonderful friendship, his tales have been brought to life in the château’s outbuildings, where a storyteller gives life to his famous stories !
CHARLES PERRAULT’S FAIRY TALE SCENES
Do you know the story of Tom Thumb ? Do you know who owns a sun-coloured dress ? Can you complete the famous phrase “Pull the bobbin…”?
In the former living quarters and outbuildings of the estate, visitors of all ages can immerse themselves in the enchanting world of Perrault’s fairy tales, whose work was originally intended for adults. Eight tales are presented through sound and light displays, available every day throughout the year on a continuous basis.
Each scene lasts between 4 and 8 minutes.
The fairy tale scenes can be visited independently every day from 10 a.m. Included in the garden admission ticket.
The Storyteller
“Once upon a time…” the famous phrase with which the storyteller begins her tales.
She tells Charles Perrault’s fairy tales every Saturday, Sunday, public holiday, and every day during the Paris region school holidays at 4:30 p.m.
Settled in the château’s gardens, in one of the salons, or in the Orangerie, she takes children and adults alike into her wonderful world. Meet the wolf, the fairies, and even the ogre…
These stories are told in a lively, playful, and interactive way, adapted for younger visitors, with a touch of humour that will also delight adults!
This activity is available in French only.
The tales can be booked and told in english for groups.
